The short answer

Second Samuel 12:23 records David's hope after losing his son: 'I will go to him, but he will not return to me.' In the deepest grief a parent can know, Scripture holds out the promise of reunion and God's tender presence.

Going Deeper

There is no grief like losing a child. Words feel inadequate and explanations feel hollow. But David, who knew this devastating loss, found a single thread of hope: 'I will go to him.' Jesus holds children with special tenderness, and the Father's heart is that none of the little ones should perish. In this unspeakable pain, God does not stand at a distance — He holds you, and He holds your child.
