The short answer

Second Corinthians 5:8 offers hope that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Missing someone is a mark of real love, and God holds both you and your loved one in His hands.

What Scripture Says

"We are confident, then, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord."

2 Corinthians 5:8

"For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain."

Philippians 1:21

"After that, we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."

1 Thessalonians 4:17

"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."

Psalm 73:26
