The short answer

Trusting God when life doesn't make sense means choosing to believe in His character even when you can't understand His plan. Isaiah 55:8 reminds us that His ways are higher than ours — not to dismiss our confusion, but to invite deeper trust.

What Scripture Says

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not My ways, declares the LORD."

Isaiah 55:8

"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts."

Isaiah 55:9

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;"

Proverbs 3:5

"And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose."

Romans 8:28

"I know that You can do all things and that no plan of Yours can be thwarted."

Job 42:2

Going Deeper

When life doesn't make sense, the temptation is to demand answers before you'll trust. But trust that requires full understanding isn't really trust — it's certainty. God invites something deeper: trusting His heart when you can't trace His hand. Job went through incomprehensible suffering and never got an explanation — but he got God. Sometimes the presence of God is the answer, even when the questions remain.
