The short answer

A prayer for faith in hard times is an honest cry that says, 'God, I believe — help me where I don't.' You can ask God to strengthen the faith you have, even when life makes believing difficult.

What Scripture Says

"Immediately the boy's father cried out, 'I do believe; help my unbelief!'"

Mark 9:24

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."

Hebrews 12:2

"And we know that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose."

Romans 8:28

"Because of the loving devotion of the LORD we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail."

Lamentations 3:22

Going Deeper

Hard times have a way of stripping faith down to its foundations. That can feel terrifying, but it can also reveal what's truly solid. When you pray 'help my unbelief,' you are not failing — you are doing exactly what faith looks like under pressure. Jesus is both the author and perfecter of your faith, which means He started it and He will finish it. Your job is to keep showing up honestly.
