The short answer

A prayer for your marriage invites God into the most important human relationship you have. Scripture calls marriage a reflection of Christ's love, and when you pray for it, you are asking God to strengthen what He designed.

What Scripture Says

"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her."

Ephesians 5:25

"Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

Mark 10:9

"Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken."

Ecclesiastes 4:12

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud."

1 Corinthians 13:4

"And over all these virtues put on love, which is the bond of perfect unity."

Colossians 3:14

Going Deeper

Marriage was never meant to be sustained by human willpower alone. When you invite God into your marriage through prayer, you are weaving that third strand into the cord — the one that holds everything together. Whether your marriage is thriving or struggling, prayer is not a last resort; it is the foundation. Ask God for patience, kindness, and the selfless love that only He can supply.
