What Does Jesus Say About Marriage?
Jesus affirmed marriage as a sacred union designed by God from the beginning — a bond so deep that two become one. He calls husbands and wives to reflect the selfless love of God in their commitment to each other.
What Scripture Says
"Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."
Mark 10:9"and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one flesh."
Mark 10:8"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her."
Ephesians 5:25"On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there,"
John 2:1"and Jesus and His disciples had also been invited to the wedding."
John 2:2Going Deeper
It is striking that Jesus' first miracle took place at a wedding — He chose to begin His public ministry by honoring a marriage celebration. He teaches that marriage is not a human invention but a divine design, a union where two lives become intertwined at the deepest level. The standard He sets is His own love for the church: sacrificial, patient, and unconditional.
