The short answer

God takes marriage seriously, and Scripture teaches that it was designed to last. But the Bible also shows that God understands the complexity of broken relationships and extends grace to those walking through divorce.

What Scripture Says

"Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

Mark 10:9

""For I hate divorce," says the LORD, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence. So guard yourselves in your spirit and do not break faith.""

Malachi 2:16

"Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because of your hardness of heart; but it was not this way from the beginning.""

Matthew 19:8

"The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit."

Psalm 34:18

"Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."

Romans 8:1
