The short answer

Pray for God's nearness and comfort to surround them. Ask the God who heals the brokenhearted to bind up their wounds and carry them through the days when grief feels unbearable.

Going Deeper

When someone you love is grieving, you may not know what to say. That's okay — prayer says what words cannot. Ask God, the Father of compassion, to wrap them in His comfort. Pray that they would feel His nearness in the loneliest hours. And know that your prayer itself is an act of love that matters more than you realize.
