The short answer

When you cannot find the words, the Spirit prays for you. Romans 8:26 promises that the Holy Spirit intercedes on your behalf with groans that words cannot express — your silence is still heard.

What Scripture Says

"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words."

Romans 8:26

"Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

Psalm 46:10

"The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit."

Psalm 34:18

"Even before a word is on my tongue, You know all about it, O LORD."

Psalm 139:4

Being still before God is itself a form of prayer.
