Scripture for Comparison and Jealousy
Comparison steals your peace and distorts how you see yourself. Scripture invites you to remember that God made you uniquely and has a specific purpose for your life that no one else can fulfill.
What Scripture Says
"Each one should test his own work. Then he will have reason to boast in himself alone, and not in someone else."
Galatians 6:4"I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are Your works, and I know this very well."
Psalm 139:14"We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they show no understanding."
2 Corinthians 10:12"For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every evil practice."
James 3:16"A tranquil heart is life to the body, but jealousy is rottenness to the bones."
Proverbs 14:30Going Deeper
Comparison tells you that someone else's blessing means less for you, but that is not how God works. He is not rationing His goodness. When jealousy creeps in, it helps to return to the truth that you are fearfully and wonderfully made — not as a copy of someone else, but as an original. Your path is your own.
