What Does Jesus Say About Worry?
Jesus addresses worry directly in the Sermon on the Mount, teaching that worry cannot add anything to your life and that your Heavenly Father already knows exactly what you need before you ask.
What Scripture Says
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?"
Matthew 6:25"So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'"
Matthew 6:31"For the Gentiles strive after all these things, and your Heavenly Father knows that you need them."
Matthew 6:32"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you."
Matthew 6:33"Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"
Luke 12:25Going Deeper
When Jesus tells us not to worry, He's not being dismissive — He's being tender. He knows we worry about food, clothing, and survival. His response isn't a rebuke but a redirection: your Father already knows what you need. Seek Him first, and let Him handle the rest. Jesus is asking you to trust His character, not just His commands.
